1 dead, 2 taken to hospital after 3-vehicle crash in Boone Co.

One person died and two others were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle collision in Boone County Sunday.

Crews were sent to the intersection of U.S. 25 and Frogtown Road around 7 a.m.

According to police, a vehicle driven by Bobby Jones, 26, was northbound on U.S. 25 approaching Frogtown Road traveling in the southbound lane.

Another vehicle, driven by Richard Taylor, 27, was southbound on U.S. 25 approaching Frogtown Road when he veered left in an attempt to avoid a collision with Jones. The two side-swiped each other, causing the Jones’ vehicle to flip on to its top, blocking the roadway.

Police said a pickup truck driven by Frank Berry, 62, was northbound on U.S. 25 and collided with Jones’ vehicle, knocking it into pedestrian Chelsie Ketron, 30.

Jones was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Taylor and Ketron were also taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Berry was uninjured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
