1 dead in semi-involved crash on US 20 – WSBT


LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. –

Police have confirmed at least one person is dead in a semi-involved crash on US 20 in LaPorte County Monday morning.

Police say a tractor-trailer was driving east on US Highway 20 when a Saturn car entered the intersection from the south on US Highway 35.

The car was struck by the semi and caused both vehicles to cross the median and slam against a guard rail along the westbound lane of US 20.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are not identifying the drivers involved in the crash as the incident remains under investigation.

Officers have restricted US 20 to one lane, both east and westbound.

The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office posted this to their Facebook page:

US 20 at US 35 is restricted to one lane westbound, and will have lane closure both ways temporarily, due to a fatal traffic crash. The La Porte County Sheriff’s Dept, and Indiana State Police are on scene conducting a reconstruction. Please avoid the area. Further details will be released at a later time.
