Blue Route re-opened after early-morning crash at Broomall exit is cleared

MARPLE Several people were injured in a multivehicle crash on the Blue Route at the Broomall exit Thursday morning.

Authorities blamed icy conditions for the crash, which occurred at about 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 476.

A Pennsylvania State Trooper was one of about four people injured when several cars slid out of control. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

Northbound lanes of the roadway were shut down for hours, detouring rush hour traffic, snarling traffic in many spots around the area.

The crash remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
