SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A scary wakeup call for a Springfield family this morning occurred when a car crashed into their home at 428 Berkshire Avenue.
A mother and son and their dog were home when the car crashed, fortunately no one was hurt.
22News learned about the car crashing into the home just after 2 this morning.
Henry Santa says he saw the driver running away after the crash, but he did return to the scene where he was met by police and taken away in an ambulance.
“I was laying down on the floor sleeping in the living room. All of the sudden, the whole wall and the door fell on top of me. I thought there was an explosion in the house, an earthquake or something. I’m happy to be alive right now,” said Santa.
The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and for attempting leaving the scene. He will be arraigned on Monday.
