Crash Downs Power Lines in Dallas Friday

Paulding County residents were asked to steer clear of portions of Cartersville Highway throughout the day Friday following a morning crash and the resulting repairs in the afternoon.

Officials with the Georgia State Patrol worked the one-vehicle crash that happened about 10:20 a.m. at 8651 Highway 61. A 2011 Kia Soul driven by Marie Glover, 61, of Dallas was going northbound when her vehicle left the roadway and hit a utility pole. Paulding residents were notified of an hourlong traffic detour around the area shortly after the crash.

Glover was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital following the crash to be checked for possible injuries.

The crash, Cpl. Ashley Henson of the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office told Dallas-Hiram Patch just after 5 p.m. Friday, led to power outages and other problems. He said then that power was believed to be flowing normally to the area.

Paulding residents almost two hours before were notified to avoid Cartersville Highway at High Shoals Road due to power lines in the roadway—a result of the earlier crash.

Henson added that no serious injuries were reported in the crash.

No charges are expected to be filed at this time.
