Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-car crash at 1:25 p.m. Monday on U.S. 12 at Breyman Highway in Franklin Township, Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies reported.
The report said a westbound car driven by Cynthia Sue Riedel, 60, of Ida was stopped in heavy rain on U.S. 12 to turn left onto Breyman Highway when it was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Helen Alma Busz, 58, of Tipton. Busz said she did not see Riedel’s car. Busz suffered minor injuries and a passenger in Riedel’s car, Wayne R. Riedel, 91, of Ottawa Lake, suffered nonincapacitating injuries. Both Busz and Wayne Riedel were taken to ProMedica Herrick Hospital by Lenawee Community Ambulance.
Two passengers in Busz’s vehicle, Brad Gilbert, 14, of Tipton and Collin J. Poore, 15, of Tipton, were uninjured.
Cynthia Riedel suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital. Another passenger in Riedel’s car, Judith D. Paluck, 70, of Ida, was uninjured.
A citation against Busz was pending, the report said.
