1 dead after crash in West Manchester

DOVER — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in West Manchester Township, York County.

Officials said the crash occurred just before 1 p.m. when a car collided with a truck hauling roofing tiles on South Salem Church Road near the Dover Township line.

The name of the victim was not immediately released.

Authorities believe one of the vehicles crossed the center line on a rain-slickened and narrow stretch of the road, which was closed between Route 234 and Route 30 while police investigated.

Six people suffered minor injuries today when a tractor-trailer, pickup truck and bus collided on Route 1 in Linden.The Star-Ledger

LINDEN — Six people suffered minor injuries, including five people on a bus, in a chain-reaction collision this afternoon on Route 1 in Linden.

The accident occurred at 1:54 p.m. when a tractor-trailer traveling north on Route 1 struck the rear of a pickup truck, which in turn struck the back of a bus, police Capt. David Hart said.

He said the collision occurred near 1001 East Edgar Road, as the vehicles were approaching a traffic light.

Five people on the bus were taken to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, as was one person from the pickup truck, Hart said.

The accident scene was cleared before 3:30 p.m.

A four-vehicle crash that happened around 3:39 p.m. Tuesday in Bullskin Township left one person dead and two others injured. The crash occurred at the intersection with Moyer Road and Route 119 in front of Green Ridge Cemetery. Two medical helicopters landed at the crash scene and transported two people from the crash to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Bullskin and Everson volunteer firefighters along with Fayette EMS all assisted at the scene.

A person died Tuesday afternoon in northern Decatur County, after being involved in a fatal car crash on State Route 97 North.pack

At approximately 2:45 p.m., a Ford Expedition SUV collided with a semi tractor-trailer just north of the intersection of State Route 97 North and Adolph Brock Road.

A Decatur County sheriff’s deputy on scene said that an occupant of the SUV was killed in the accident. No extra information about the victim was immediately made available.

Both vehicles caught fire after the collision. The Georgia State Patrol, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur County Fire and Rescue and Decatur County EMS were among the agencies called to the scene.

BROOKFIELD —
A 73-year-old Sharon woman was killed Monday afternoon when the SUV in which she was riding was hit broadside at state routes 7 and 82 in Brookfield, according to Ohio Highway Patrol.

OHP said Carmen L. Maldonado-Iraq was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:42 p.m. crash. She was a front-seat passenger in the SUV driven by Fadia Iraq, 22, also of Sharon.

The younger woman suffered what police termed serious injuries. She was listed in critical condition Monday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, police said.

Neither woman was wearing a seatbelt, OHP said.

Police said Iraq’s SUV was northbound on Route 7, crossing the intersection with a green traffic signal, when it was hit by a westbound Hummer, driven by Jessica L. Shaffer, 26, of Brookfield. OHP said Shaffer drove through the red signal on Route 82; she suffered minor injuries.

A 17-year-old male is in serious condition in hospital following an accident in Stratford just before noon.

The call came to Queens County RCMP about 11:30 to the intersection of Route 1 and the Stratford Road by the Stratford Esso.

“A car turning left onto the Bunbury Road was struck at the intersection by a truck travelling west on Route 1,” said a press release from the RCMP.
