Highway 26 reopened after multiple vehicle accident

U.S. Highway 26 reopened to both lanes of traffic around 1 p.m. today at mile post 24 near Elsie. A multivehicle accident, involving as many as 12 vehicles occurred this morning. 


A tanker truck was reportedly involved and a local hazardous materials crew is responding. Two vehicles were reported on fire. Elsie, Banks, Seaside and Hamlet fire departments responded.
