Nineteen-year-old Jacob Dale Lisenby, of Atmore, was killed in an accident Saturday afternoon at 1:08 p.m, after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Cantonment, Fla.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Lisenby was driving his 1999 Honda motorcycle northbound on U.S. Highway 29, just south of Well Line Road, as he approached the parking lot of Grocery Advantage. At that time, a 1987 Chevrolet van, being driven by Mary O. Simpkins, 69, of Cantonment, pulled out of the parking lot and attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Highway 29.

According to the report, Lisenby was traveling at a high rate of speed when he noticed Simpkins’ vehicle in his path. He attempted to stop his motorcycle by laying it down on the pavement, but was unable to stop and collided with the left side of the van, in the left northbound lane of Highway 29.

Escambia County (Fla.) EMS pronounced Lisenby deceased at the scene of crash. According to the report, he was wearing a helmet.

Simpkins sustained minor injuries in the crash, and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
