MIAMI (AP) — A South Florida man has been convicted in a drunken driving crash that left a 13-year-old girl dead.

A Miami-Dade jury found 39-year-old Sandor Guillen guilty Monday of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death. A sentencing date wasn’t immediately set.

Prosecutors say Guillen’s blood alcohol level was .226 percent — nearly triple the legal limit — as he was speeding in a Range Rover down the U.S. 1 busway on a morning in April 2012. Guillen eventually slammed into a minivan, killing Kaely Camacho. The girl’s father and older sister were also in the vehicle.

The Miami Herald (http://goo.gl/3Myg6Y ) reports that Guillen was arrested in the nearby field, claiming he had been assaulted by unknown attackers. But his DNA matched the blood on the Range Rover’s airbag, and jurors convicted him after three hours of deliberations.
