One person dead in crash east of Lytton: Highway 1 closed both directions

RCMP confirm one person has died in a four-vehicle crash near Lytton.

Sgt. Rob Vermeulen with the RCMP said the accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. 15-kilometres east of Lytton.

A tanker truck was involved, which did catch fire, confirmed Vermeulen, but the person who died was in one of the other vehicles.

There is no word yet on cause of the crash, or if weather was a factor.

Highway 1 is closed in both directions from Jackass Mountain Summit to Spences Bridge. An alternate route is via Hwy 3 to Princeton, Hwy 5A to Merritt or Kelowna.

There is no estimated time of opening.
