Single vehicle crash on I-95 clogged traffic

A single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 south in Spotsylvania slowed traffic during rush hour Thursday evening, pushing some commuters onto U.S. Route 1.

The crash occurred at 5:54 p.m., when a 17-year-old Stafford resident lost control of her 2002 Mazda Protégé near exit 126, said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler.

The vehicle veered into the median and struck two guard rails before overturning.

The driver was transported to Mary Washington Hospital.

Tyler said the cause of the crash is still under investigation by Trooper J.C. Jeanty.
