A Merritt Island woman faces a DUI manslaughter charge after her Ford Mustang struck a car on U.S. 1 in Port St. John, killing a passenger in that vehicle.

The crash occurred just before midnight Saturday at the intersection of Fay Boulevard.

Jennifer Dusan, 43, was driving a 2002 Mustang east on Fay Boulevard, and she attempted to make a right turn southbound on U.S. 1, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Dusan lost control, traveled into the northbound lanes and struck the left-front side of a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Titusville resident Jerrick Clarington, 21, troopers said.

One of Clarington’s passengers, Nicole Diaz, 26, of Titusville, was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. She died Sunday afternoon at the hospital, reports show.

Clarington and a second passenger, Jalin Warren, 23, of Titusville, were treated for minor injuries at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville. Dusan was not injured.
