FRASER TOWNSHIP, MI —
Two people died in a collision that occurred at about 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of Mackinaw and East Coggins, near Pinconning.
Bay County Sheriff’s Lt. Troy Cunningham said based on
tire marks on the road it appeared that one vehicle was heading south on
Mackinaw, drove through the stop sign and crashed into the other vehicle in the intersection. Coggins Road does not have a stop sign at that intersection.
Cunningham said the southbound vehicle, a brown pickup truck, appeared to have
gone airborne before it landed sideways on the front lawn of 1510 E. Coggins,
taking out a stop sign in the process.
Police officials have notified the next of kin for the
driver of the pickup truck but have not made contact with the family of the
other driver, who was driving a Ford Escape. Police have not released the name of either driver. Neither had passengers in their vehicle.
Fire and medical responders from Fraser Township and
Pinconning responded to the crash. Motorists should avoid
